The Information Resource Center at the American Cultural Center offers free Internet training for members of Syrian institutions, university students, teachers, journalists, and researchers. IRC Internet café consists of 11 Internet workstations that are available for public use from 12:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Following are guidelines for use:
- Use of the Internet free of charge, but may be limited, as determined by American Cultural Center Staff, if others are waiting.
- Printing will be charged at the rate of one S.P. for each sheet of paper printed.
- Internet service is available for research only. Under no circumstances should the Internet be used for purposes that could adversely affect the American Cultural Center’s policies, interests or reputation, such as using the Internet to obtain obscene material, gamble, etc. Furthermore, Internet users are advised that the Computer Systems Manager can clearly identify both the user and sites accessed from the PCs and, therefore, there can be no expectation of privacy while using the Internet.
- Chatting is not permitted.
- Downloading of any material from the Internet, including software, is not permitted.
- Users are not permitted to use floppy disks, CDs, flashes or USBs with the Center’s PCs.
- Users who violate any of these rules will not be allowed to use the Center’s Internet service again.
