National Threat Level Advisory

On November 10, 2004, the Department of Homeland Security lowered the homeland security threat level to YELLOW (ELEVATED) for the financial services sectors in New York City, Northern New Jersey and Washington D.C. The threat level for the rest of the nation remains at YELLOW (ELEVATED). Further information about the announcement may be obtained at the DHS Internet website at http://www.dhs.gov.

The Department of State continues to monitor security conditions overseas and, as always, will promptly disseminate information affecting the safety of Americans abroad through its consular information program. These documents are available on the Department's Internet website at http://www.travel.state.gov.

In case of an emergency outside of business hours, American citizens may reach the Embassy duty officer by calling 333-1342 and pressing "0". American citizens may also contact the Department of State, if calling from outside the United States at 317-472-2328, or, from within the U.S., toll-free at 1-888-407-4747.
