Selective Service Registration

Selective service registration is applicable to males who are:

  1. U.S. citizens;
  2. Aliens residing in the U.S.;
  3. Conditional entrants to the U.S., such as refugees or parolees.

U.S. law requires that persons in these groups register with the Selective Service System if they were born in 1960 or later and are at least 18 years of age. Individuals should register within 30 days of their 18th birthday. Registration forms are available in the Embassy's Consular Section in Damascus, and, once completed, will be forwarded for the registrant to the Selective Service System Headquarters.

You can also register on-line by visiting the Selective Service System website at http://www.sss.gov/regist.htm
