Transportation Resource Information
March 1, 2013
The United States continues to warn U.S. citizens against travel to Syria and recommends that U.S. citizens in Syria depart immediately. A new Travel Warning for Syria was released on March 1, 2013 and supersedes the Travel Warning dated August 28, 2012.
U.S. citizens seeking to depart Syria should note that many flights are being cancelled and land border crossings are subject to closure without notice due to the ongoing possibility of fighting between regime forces and armed opposition groups. Travelers should check with their airlines prior to planned travel.
If you have an expired U.S. passport and wish to travel from Syria to Turkey, please contact the U.S. Embassy in Ankara.
